About Us

Shuttle Sport International was formed in 2000. The company initially setout to create resources and design programs for teachers/coaches involved in the educational system. Since then Shuttle Sport has expanded and now provides resources, support to schools (elementary & secondary), and learning/training opportunities for athletes, teachers and coaches.

After establishing himself as a first-rate competitive coach of elite athletes and coaches, Arif (Al) Mawani broadened his expertise by instructing in the Human Kinetics Department at UBC where he currently works. His continuous participation in the Grand Slam Coaches Conferences allows him to share a wealth of progressive knowledge with his tennis students.

In addition to his work at UBC, Arif owns and operates Shuttle Sport International which he founded in the year 2000. The mandate of Shuttle Sport is to raise the bar for athletes and coaches by providing the tools necessary to excel. His instructional video “Badminton Skills and Drills” as well as his books “Badminton 2000 plus” and Athletes’ Training Diary have received enthusiastic reviews from schools, and clubs.

Arif Mawani has made a special effort to provide leadership in the world of sport and to develop grass roots to elite programs. He is unique in that he brings a wealth of theoretical and practical experience to his work as well as extensive International knowledge of other cultures. His publications are a result of his passion for excellence. In February 2005 Arif was inducted to the Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame.
